Cooperation with Education Bureau to enhance teachers’ counter terrorism (CT) awareness
To raise the CT awareness amongst teachers and the education sector, the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) collaborated with the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau to organise the “National Security Education: Enhancing Counter Terrorism Awareness Seminar cum Safe Community Hub Visit” on October 18. Nearly 60 primary and secondary school teachers participated in the event.
During the event, representative of ICTU presented the global and local terrorism situation with relevant CT information. The participants were then invited to visit the Safe Community Hub (the Hub), where they experienced various interactive exhibition areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive holograms, and flight simulations. Throughout these experiences, the participants learnt how to mitigate the risk of terrorist attack and to protect themselves and their communities.
After the visit, the participants actively exchanged ideas in the group discussion and shared how to integrate the Hub’s resources into their teaching curriculum and to promote CT education in schools to deepen students’ security awareness.
ICTU will continue to work closely with the education sector, organising diverse activities to support the overall development of CT education in schools.
